writing class

While I was writing Shelby's book, I wondered if I needed help in the form of an editor. I went to a local book store to find a Thesaurus. A kindly man listened to my need for someone else to read my chapters. He suggested a lady who edited books, along with teaching a writing class. I took her name and after a telephone call, I joined the class of people writing their life's history. In this post, I shall list my various entries, some from my childhood, some from special times in my life and also an attempt at poetry. The teacher complied a book from the writing of us all, using my poetry, which I didn't find especially noteworthy. One entry I am particularly proud of was the day that President John F. Kennedy was shot, Nov 22, 1963. I was working for a Madison, WI newspaper as their librarian. This was before computers were available.

Shelby's review

A wonderful Chihuahua magazine, named Chihuahua Connection found Shelby's book on Amazon.com and gave Shelby a wonderful full page review in the fall edition of 2007.
I was delighted that Tamara Sevigny also included 3 colored photos of Shelby so viewers could see what Shelby Princess looked like. It was most generous of Tamara to give Shelby that much coverage. It is a gorgeous magazine with clothes, feature articles, upcoming Chihuahua events and dog shows all around the United States. The magazine is all in color and shows the many sizes of the Chihuahua, and also health and safety concerns for this petite, yet robust breed.
The Chihuahua Connection has an impressive circulation, as far away as Europe, the Orient and parts of every continent. Everyone loves Chihuahuas!

Other pets

Shelby loved her back yard. It was fenced in and had lots of soft green grass. Charlie, the older Bombay cat kept her safe by catching and killing the shrews who could have bit tiny Shelby. He threw them high in the air and let them know they were not welcomed in HIS backyard!
Alex, shyer gray and white striped cat came outside, but hid in the tall flowers, which grew along the side of the house.

Shelby's friends

Shelby Princess came into our home as a 6 week old pup. Already there was a 3 year old black Bombay cat with yellow eyes. His name was Charlie and he was Shelby's nemesis as well as her protector. He killed garden shrews, small mouse like body with rather nasty teeth. They made holes all over our yard and would have bit tiny Shelby, who weighed 2 pounds at that time.
Shelby also had a gorgeous green-eyed, white and grey striped cat named Alex, who was shy and very timid. He was a monster of a cat in size, weighing nearly 20 pounds. He was like Ferdinand the Bull, who never knew his full strength.

Getting my feet wet

I'm a fledgling blogger. This is my first blog and my first entry therein.

In the future, I'll be posting my experiences publishing my book and maybe some short stories. I'll also be posting some of the adventures of my dogs and cats.
